Lil Wayne Letting Rap Take A Backseat? [DETAILS INSIDE]
Have you been paying attention to hip hop lately? I mean, there's a lot going on to be honest. You've got Rick Ross bringing the MMG group to the forefront, Lupe keeping it very real in interviews and 2 Chainz focusing on holding the buzz until album time. But I've got a quick question...WHAT HAPPENED TO LIL WAYNE? Although I'm not really concerned with the answer to that question, it's something I'm sure we've all asked ourselves (whether or not we still like his music).
Wayne's presence in the rap game has hardly been felt or seen although you can still find him on songs like French Montana's "Pop That" and even his own song with Big Sean called "My Homies Still". Although he's still produced content it's nothing close to what we've been used to from the YMCMB leader and it seems like rap has taken a backseat. But taken a backseat to what exactly? Apparently skateboarding. We've all seen Wayne in more videos on vert ramps than studios these days but in a recent interview with DJ Drama Lil Wayne finally speaks his mind. Check out what he said in a recent interview with DJ Drama.
"I kinda feel like I deserve that. I feel like the fans deserve a lil’ no Wayne. I’ve been everywhere. I’ve been out on everybody’s song, I’m still on everybody’s song, my artists are doing awesome. I believe the fans deserve some peace from me. I be on my skateboard in the meantime."
Well there you have it folks, straight from Lil Wayne, he's taking it easy and simply enjoying life. Now with his Dedikation 4 mixtape dropping soon fans will still get their necessary dose of the rapper before they know it. Also, be sure to check out the full interview with Wayne & DJ Drama below.
Personally, I'm glad he's taken some time off...maybe when he returns we'll see more of the Wayne we grew up loving and less of the "Tunechi" guy we've all raised an eyebrow at since Carter 3. *shrugs*
