Big K.R.I.T. Strikes Gold Again With New “4EvaNaDay” Mixtape

Big Krit, the up and coming Mississippi rapper, released his highly anticipated mixtape, "4EvaNaDay" on Monday. He actually had to leak it slightly earlier than scheduled after his fans showed just how excited they were by getting the tape to trend on twitter. Now Krit's mixtapes aren't your usual freestyles over recycled beats type projects. He produced all his own tracks and even went a step further by doing without any features this time around. The 17 track tape is moreso a free album much like his previous two projects, "Return of 4Eva" and "Krit Wuz Here".

I don't like comparing artists, but for those who are unfamiliar, I'd say Krit sounds like Pimp C meets 8ball & MJG over "Southernplayalistacadillacmuzik" like beats with Kanye-esque content (substitute the designer clothes for old school cars). I haven't spent much time down south but 4EvaNaDay is like riding shotgun with Krit through his hood for a day. His lyrics paint pictures of a young man full of zest for life chasing his dream with the wisdom founded in his soul guiding him. Along the way we come across boppers, candy paint, and chrome wheels and by the end of each song you'll be wondering where you're headed next. There is always a message in Krit's music which to me is the same message relayed by all the greats...add hard work to heart and success will find you. As a lyricist his growth is definitely noticeable on this tape and he even reveals more of his soul to us this time on tracks like "Handwriting" where he discusses his career and "Red Eye" where he touches on the trials an entertainer or anyone with a demanding career can face in a relationship. "4EvaNaDay" has a more laid back/chill tone than "Return of 4Eva". It's definitely a good tape to just ride to when you're in the mood to relax and maybe reflect.

What captivates me is the synchronicity of Krit's tapes, the track order and how well he rides the beats. His lyrics and flow are always on point delivering nothing short of greatness. I've seen Krit perform live twice and more than anything I respect the genuineness of his aura. I can just feel that he puts his heart in his music and I admire him creating his own lane instead of trying to keep up with the current trends. I was actually disappointed when I found out "4EvaNaDay" was gonna be a free project so I'll definitely be attending a few shows to support him. Sleep on Big Krit if you want to and you'll truly be missing out on good music. Krit is just what we need to bring more substance to our current hip hop scene, I want...need him to win.
